Dude, it offered me a choice of titles. How weird is that?
Exploring this a little bit more ;) Today I visited the Natural History Museum, then did a little shopping (yay!). Bought two books, and a whole bunch of postcards.
OK, I admit, this is kind of cool. So, got Inkspell, which is the second in a trilogy of young adult fantasy novels. My english teacher this past year recommended it (it was a Children's lit class, it was relevant!). I finished reading the first one (Inkheart) just last week, so I was rather excited to see this one in the store today.
I also gave in and bought Pride and Prejudice. When all my girlfriends in high school were reading it, I refused to, but now one of my friends is obsessed with seeing every version ever made (movies and tv), so I'm finally reading the book. So far, 12 pages in, I'm doing ok :D
What else...
Oh yes, went to the zoo yesterday! My LJ will have a complete post, but here are some highlights:
Nemo!
And Dori!
There were lots of summer camp kids at the zoo, and the cries of NEMO! were hilarious as child after child noticed them.
And now, the cutest lizard-type-creature in the world:
He was bouncing around and chasing flies while we watched. Then he stopped and posed for a picture for me! Wasn't that nice :D
Next post I'll have to look for some music to upload. I need to test that feature too. I'm disliking the lack of cut-tags still, and the non-threaded comments. And the LACK OF ICONS. And I'm generally uncomfortable with this not being LJ. *pouts* But I do like the photo and book posting interface. It seems to work well.
Comments
Huh. Flamingoes in Switzerland.
Congratulations, you're my first comment! (Feel special.)
Hi Jules!
Well, you're also my first commenter! Isn't that exciting?
And yes, flamingos. There were also kangaroos in the Australia exhibit, but they were itty bitty ones. :P
Oh, I envy your zoo visit! And Pride & Prejudice is awesome. :-)
HRD: I haven't been to a zoo in about 7 years, so this was pretty fun :D
This no replying to comments thing is bugging me.
Inkspell? Cornelia Funke? I didn't even know that her books have been translated. I tried to read it (the Mom was so exited about it), but I couldn't force myself to finish it. I didn't like the writing and - I'm probably the only one, but I think this book is overrated.
But your pics make me wanna go to the zoo again. I haven't been there since... ages.
Aww, Tyffi. I really enjoyed it, actually, but I'm a big fan of kids books, and half the time prefer them to adult lit. My brain still half belongs to an eight-year-old, you see :P
You should go to the zoo! It was a lot of fun!
Hmmm, this sounds good. Zoo's are super fun, even I like them. yes.
I, also, never read Pride and Prejudice. I did got to see Emma at the theatre though, I may read it one day, I may not. who knows?
(also, on this Vox do you ever find yourself wanting to ask a question of someone and then flailing about because you know quite well they can't reply to your comment and may never ever see the question?)
Becky, I'm enjoying P&P quite a lot actually. I did try reading Emma after seeing the movie adaptation, but couldn't finish it - it was so wordy and boring!
I'm feeling silly replying to comments for exactly that reason, that whoever I'm replying to may never see it :P
it does handily show up in that 'recent' comments bar though. I knew this was directed at me because the first word was Becky :D.
You will LOVE P&P...such a GREAT book and the A&E version of the film is WONDERFUL (the new one just well...sucks!!!)
Hee, I finished P&P pretty quickly cause we were on a train trip, and I was surprised at how much I liked it! Now I'm waiting to rent the A&E version, since I've seen the recent one :)
